Growing up in Ketchikan, I was never shorted in my exposure to the arts. I consider myself spoiled to grow and create exponentially, with little opposition. In elementary school, my purposes for art consisted of proving I could draw better than the boys. My intentions have since changed. Though I am always exploring, I no longer use sexism for motivation. Spontaneity and curiosity are the subjects I strive to make visual for myself, and then the world.

Though I’ll happily dive into any art medium, I am happiest shooting portraits. I try to give black and white photography the most color that I can. Despite the digital boom that we’re experiencing, the darkroom is still an exciting place in the art world. These days I use digital and film at about the same ratio, as one medium teaches me about the other.
