Cedar bark hats originated from the Northwest Coast cultures and are revered as an art form for the skill and intricate techniques it takes to create them. Many Northwest Coast designs are located inside of the Saxman Community's Auditorium. The Alaskan Natives had a transient population, with canoes being the main form of transportation between islands.
