Circa 1970 – Candace designed the mural with a bit of hidden humor based on the mascot, “Kayhi Kings” (as salmon) having eaten their sports competitors, the wolves (Sitka), eagles ( Chugiak) and bears (Juneau-Douglas) from other neighboring high school teams. “When asked to execute the mural, I said I would only if I had native student apprentices to assist in the painting. Tammy Badroads was an apprentice as well as another student.”
